MELLOW YELLOW
75 HJ Kingswood, Sandman Tribute
This vehicle is plated as a 202, 4 speed with Absinth yellow paint and Gazelle trim. It began its life as a workhorse in South Australia. Was then purchased by an enthusiast who had in mind to restore for his son who was on his P plates. He performed a bare metal resto reusing components as well as sourcing as many genuine parts he could, to morph her into a Sandman tribute that we see today. The engine is a 186 rebuilt and stroked out to a 192 (as it couldn’t be a V8 due to the conditions enforced on P platers). An automatic gearbox was added for ease of driving.
She was put up for adoption after her intended owner refused her.
In the early 80’s my husband owned a holden ute, as many in the bush did in those days. When I saw her, I immediately began the campaign to convince my husband that we needed her in our lives. She is a tribute to his genuine original minus the rumble of a V8, (Something we hope to rectify in the future).
