SQUAW
Jan and dad (Kevin Moore) built Squaw back in the late 70’s after owning it since 1975. It went through a series of changes to end up in its current condition which was finished in 1983.
A Ford Cortina 2ltr Pinto was installed along with Cortina gearbox and diff. Motor was bored out .060” and stroked .125” increasing the capacity to 2146cc. Valve size was increased and Isky valve springs installed. The standard cam received a sports grind. Mahle high comp pistons and rings were fitted. Lynx inlet manifold is mounted to a pair of 40 Webers. Flywheel was lightened.
A Morris Marina disc front end conversion replaced the original along with telescopic shockers to take the extra weight of the motor. Telescopic shockers with coil overs were installed on the rear. A Toyota steering column was fitted to the original steering rack.
Body had been left standard except for fibreglass tilt front, Capri taillights, flared front and rear guards, sunroof and Toyota fuel cap. Wheels are 14×9 and 13×6 Dragways. Custom extractors and side pipes give the 2ltr a very healthy note.
